Do you want to learn Web Design?
Whether for a personal or business project, a career change or to add an extra skill to your résumé, designing web sites is a fascinating and useful subject.
We are a successful and growing web design company in Brighton, therefore the methods you will learn are currently being used to create commercial sites, see our portfolio.
We have a maximum class size of six and the lessons are held at our offices near Hove Train Station, opposite Hove recreation ground on Old Shoreham Road, the course runs on Thursday and Tuesday Evenings 6.30pm - 8.30pm, see below for next start dates.
Web design and development is a wide ranging subject so we have designed this course to give you a good grounding on which you can build on, the course is fairly intensive as a lot of ground is covered and practice / homework in between the lessons is essential.
We have PCs that you can use or alternatively you may bring your own laptop, useful software, configurations will be installed enabling you to work at home during and after the course.

Payment Terms
To book a course we require a £80.00 non refundable deposit, with the remaining £140.00 payable before week 3. We accept cheques, cash and bank transfers. Contact us for details. To qualify for the 10% discount you must bring proof in the form of an up to date American Express ID card or Student Card. We will confirm the details given are accurate.
What will I learn?
The following is an outline of what the course will cover, this is fairly flexible and depending on time the subjects may be covered in different weeks.
Week 1
A brief history of the World Wide Web, XHTML tags, block and inline elements, lists and special characters, XHTML page content markup, Doctypes and creating a web page, XHTML W3C validation, tables for tabular data, hyperlinks.
Week 2
Graphics for the web, using Photoshop for web graphics, images in XHTML, CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) basics, applying CSS to XHTML, CSS W3C validation, introduction to Servers and Clients, FTP (File Transfer Protocol) for uploading your site to the web.
Week 3
Setting up a site, file structure and management with Dreamweaver, XHTML with Dreamweaver, CSS using Dreamweaver, fonts, CSS box model.
Week 4
CSS positioning, absolute and relative, fluid and fixed layouts, CSS Floats, test site build example (full process)
Week 5
Form elements in XHTML, accessible form layouts, GET and POST Methods, form processing with PHP, styling forms with CSS, SPry and JavaScript form validations.
Week 6
Advanced CSS techniques, image replacement, block hover navigation lists, SSI (Server Side Includes) with PHP for templates, PHP include, require and date functions, local testing with LAMP, second web site project start, (full process using Photoshop to create site layouts and recreation with CSS).
Week 7
Explaining CSS for second web site project, active link highlighting using CSS, JavaScript lightbox pop up photo gallery.
Week 8
Finish second test web site, embedding YouTube video, JavaScript RSS news feeds, SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) techniques, Google Analytics and Web master tools, XML sitemap's, FavIcon, site design process, Photoshop for web layouts, web hosting and further resources.
