First up were meetings, company and competitor research, some in-depth questions and follow ups using an online questionnaire.

Logo, branding guidelines and 'Service that shines' strap-line provided previously by our branding partner.
Loosely based on a the previous logo, using the same colours but with a cleaner more contemporary look.
It also reflects the companies move to larger commercial cleaning contracts.
The colour palette reflects the base colours used in the logo, web colour pallets based on this were created by Code7 later.
Keyword research and sitemap build, or an ongoing SEO and social media campaign were not possible in the budget this time, so the sitemap was based on the old site.
The site we build are SEO friendly and easy to mange this side of things via a plugin.
In conjunction with the client new services and company pages that were needed were also added, as this is a fast growing company we needed to consider the flexibility to add more over time.

Functionality of the site required had already been mostly thrashed out in the quotation / proposal stage, so we knew what third party components and plug-ins for Joomla we were going to use, there was no requirement at this stage for any custom component builds.
This is the first round of ideas for the layouts, initial concepts for the home page layout.
The main call to action for this site was getting clients to contact Mr Gleam, primarily by telephone. Other important information included some strong imagery and info in the form of case studies, the areas they cover and the offices that serve them, as well as a list of the services on offer.
Ideas here include the contact panel being very prominent, case studies in an image slider, mini maps linking to the office locations, icons list for the services to create continuity and ease of navigation.
We can then run the ideas past the client (and a test group if applicable), usually we have a strong idea of what is working well at this stage and can amalgamate the best concepts into one.
After a couple of iterations the finalised wire-frame is realised, we have kept a constant flow of navigation throughout the site, its doesn't matter what page you land on, there is information available, a primary call to action to contact via phone, or via a quick form, and secondary to continue navigating for more info.
Smaller details include extra text info strap-lines on the menu items, to be carried through to the page titles, icons for the services to also be carried though, secondary info in the bottom links bar.
You can download the final working version of the wire-frame here:

We then built the Joomla core setup, menu layouts and articles with Lorem Ipsum text, all the components and plugins needed;
And the finished result of this stage can be seen online here.
We can now use any design information gathered on competitor sites, other sites that are liked or disliked, target audience and logo / branding guidelines.
Here we have a mood-board of some site sections that had some useful ideas to incorporate, we were looking to achieve a professional look, something that reflects the commercial nature but not overly corporate and flat.
This is the first layout presented to the client, a homepage and a general content page.
These are Photoshop mock-ups, and uploaded to the web to get a better feel of how it will look.
A few iterations later, some tweaking and the only major revision being on the colours, to help the site reflect the branding more closely the final design is realised:
The content was finalised by a copywriter, some last tweaks and cross browser testing mainly for older versions of Internet Explorer, redirects for all the old pages and the site is ready to go live!
The final site can be seen here.
